Bob Jane
Bob Jane, alongside Harry Firth, was a star of the early Great Races. He drove a number of cars before becoming a Ford works driver. He was a more tradesmanlike driver in style but nevertheless successful. Without a drive in 1966 due to the onslaught of the Morris Cooper S, Jane only appeared infrequently at Bathurst from then on, entering and then withdrawing entries on many occassions. He remains the only driver to have won The Great Race 4 years in a row, although Peter Brock has scored the hat-trick twice. Jane went on to open a tyre dealership, Bob Jane T Marts, and he also introduced NASCAR racing to Australia by building The Thunderdome.
