Activity: 'Hangings... in the bushranger gallery'

Your Task: is to draw a digital picture using a drawing program and a mouse. This drawing will depict one of the bushrangers or a scene from the bushrangers' life.

What did the bushrangers look like?:

• Descriptions - Read some descriptions of what bushrangers looked like.
• Pictures -Look at some of the pictures of bushrangers in the bushranger profiles and at the Picture links.

Drawing the Bushrangers:

• Plan what you are going to put in your picture.
• Using MS Paint, Kidpix or another drawing program, use your mouse to draw your scene or portrait.
• Save your picture.
• Open your picture in MS Photo Editor and save it in .gif  or .jpg  format. If you would like your drawing to appear in a Kids gallery on the Bushranger Site, email a copy to Hazel Orr, Site Manager.

Preparation:

Access to books with photographs of early colonial Australians, in particular the bushrangers is essential. A classroom learning centre including books, and pictures would be very useful.

Some modelling and instruction in saving the image and converting it to .gif or .jpg fomat will be necessary.

Access to computer lab essential.

Skills:

Gathering data (using primary literary sources and online and hard copy reference material)

Drawing with a mouse.
